Strictly for the birds

I noticed today how the feeding patterns of the birds visiting my garden had changed.
During the winter I had lots of finches visiting and eating the niger seed I had put out. The last week or so they haven't been near the place. On the other hand I hardly saw a sparrow all winter and now there are quite a few coming to the garden. ( I have put out the same mixture of bird food all the time) I suppose there must be alternatives to my fare. Talk about fairweather friends!
When I used to do security work at night it always fascinated me to see that the blackbirds were always still "working" at dusk and that they were the first birds to be seen at dawn. No I'm not being racist here but I wonder if their colour has something to do with this? Perhaps being black gives them more scope to work in safety with diminishing light?
Hey Chris has been a busy boy. He has been helping me with my website www.whoisjohnbeaumont.com and doing an excellent job putting some things together for me.
So my thought for today:- Do we really appreciate what others do for us or do we sometimes take help too much for granted?
Joke for today:- This is an important announcement for drivers travelling on the M62 to London.
The M62 doesn't go to London. Boom boom.

The Blitz remembered

Hi friends
At present on UK TV they are celebrating (surely that's NOT the right word!) the fact that it is 70 years since the UK suffered the blitz.
Whilst the armed forces have received many accolades for the work they carried out I don't think the civilian population received as much praise as they should have done. Most of the images you now see are of people stoically surviving in the underground tube stations in London although of course many other towns and cities were bombed very badly too.
However we seem to hear very little about the civilians who had to "carry on" throughout the raids.
Take my mum and dad for example. They were both fire watchers. In fact my dad had just retired at 65 years old and instead of sitting in front of the fire with his pipe and slippers he was on top of Hackney Town Hall ( a borough in the east end of London) helping direct the fire sevices to where they were needed most. "Hairy" or what? Imagine being on top of one of the tallest local buildings with bombs falling all around. My mum was there too and she told me but for going into a neighbours shelter on the first air raid she never went in one again. Prefered to take her chance in the open. They were both trained to enter burning buildings to rescue people who were trapped without all the equipment taken for granted now. The "elf" and safety brigade would have kittens now! However after having a couple of hours "shut eye" mum had to be up to go to work. After a raid the communication systems particularly transport were in chaos and mum often had to walk from the east end where she lived to the west end of London where she was seconded to The Ministry of Supply. Can you imagine scuttling passed burning buildings tripping over fireman's hoses to get to work and not even knowing if your work place would still be there. One day she had to wake up a fireman up who had gone to sleep directing his hose on a burning building. The poor man was utterley exhausted. It didn't help that mum then pointed out flames coming from another source!
Hey I think someone should make a film about all these unsung heros. The didn't even get any medals.
Thought for today: Did you manage to get to work today without dodging a burning building? Yes? Then it was a great day wasn't it.
Joke for today:- Did you here about the guy who lost his left leg and left arm in an accident?
His all right now.

My YourNetBiz.com

Hi there

Bit of a mouthful that my YourNetBiz.com isn't it?

Beautiful day today, sun shining and all's right with the world. Well isn't it? It's only we humans who are making most of the mess.

Bit of an expensive day really. Had to fork out nearly £600 for repairs to Sue's car. The clutch went completely just after she discovered one of the tyres was in a bad way and had to be replaced.
With my internet business I paid a supposedly kosher company to get me guaranteed hits on my website www.ezinternettraining.com but so far whilst I have been receiving visitors no one has taken it any further. Strange I can see the potential but other s can't. Perhaps they think I'm the odd one out? We shall see? I'm convinced this is the way forward.

Sue is following Kelloggs Special K diet so I bought her a range of the Kelloggs Special K cereals and some of the Special K bars. Her diet is working very well although I think she looks lovely as she is and certainly doesn't appear to be overweight. Still if she feels happier losing a few pounds then good luck to her.

Thought for today: Aren't we lucky to be able to read and write? Do you feel blessed?

Todays joke:- It's such a shame to ruin such beautifal blonde hair by dying the roots black.

On this day. In 1876 Custer's last stand
In 1314 the Battle of Bannockburn when Robert the Bruce defeated an English army
In 1990 the first two women priests ordained in the Anglican church

Have fun

ezinternettraining.com

Hi there

Well I'm still here (I think)

I'm amazed at the amount of information being sent through emails. Ezines have a tremendous amount of members but the trouble is a lot of the information being sent is not really relevent to me.

I've just put out another solo ad so will be interesting to see what response I get. The main problem is that people get saturated with advertisements the whole time. Pity they should just read mine. Ha ha I am sending them to my website www.ezinternettraining.com to get more information on the YourNetBiz opportunity. I think it is great certainly the best information I have seen on learning about internet marketing but as they say the proof of the pudding is in the eating. So we shall see.

Does anyone else think that the standard keyboard needs changing. I keep pressing the caps lock key by mistake, I think it is in the wrong place but maybe that's just my carelessness.

I received a letter today from an organisation called Back on the Map. One of the properties I own is in Hendon a part of Sunderland and apparently this organisation is running the Middle Hendon Neighbourhood Renewal Project to "transform Hendon". This may be great but I am just a little surprised that the main building contractor Frank Haslam Milan may contact me "to discuss and assess REQUIRED external improvements to my property. If I am unable to attend the proposed meeting then they will write to me to provide me with details of the work planned and choices available to me. Hang on! Who asked me whether or not I wanted anything done to the property in the first place. I'm sure that they mean well but shouldn't we all be asked if we wanted the area changed in the first place. Talk about big brother.
Enough of my rant.

Thought for today. Why worry about things we can't change. lets concentrate on changing for the better those things we do have control over.

Joke for today: A new Army computer is put through it's paces. An officer types in a question "How far is it from the barrack gate to the armoury?" The computer replies "Five hundred" The officer types "Five hundred what?" The computer replies "Five hundred,SIR!"

A Wet Sunday Afternoon

Well haven't we had a lot of rain this weekend! We needed the rain but this was ridiculous.

Still I've now got my first solo ad for submission to the ezines. I didn't write it but got a professional to do it. This is for my www.ezinternettraining.com website. I also obtained a classified ad for this site so fingers crossed I should be in business.

I think I have eventually got the order with Dixons sorted out. I still can't fathom out what was wrong as there was certainly enough money in the account.

The roses in my garden are really looking great this year. Maybe the harder winter than usual has had something to do with it as they are blooming away much more prefusely now.

I had problems with coooking the meat today. Chris bought a large joint of beef but we are having trouble with the oven door. Sometimes for no apparent reason it comes slightly open and therefore shuts off. Happened this morning but I don't know for how lomg. When I went to carve I found it was quite bloody inside so had to cook it for a bit longer.

Joke for today: Two aerials met on a roof, fell in love andgot married. The ceremony was rubbish but the reception was brilliant,

Thought for today: Half the people in Hollywood are dying to be discovered, the other half are afraid they will be. Ethyl Barrymore
